Youth Firefighter Camp - Day 3

June 21, 2023

The cadets got to see a real time response by our firefighters, who responded to a report of a building fire prior to the start of camp. All trucks were back in station within the hour.  Teachable moment. The skills we learned on Tuesday were applied to Wednesday's activities.  Hoses were connected to Engine 51 which drafted water and foam from Tanker 51. Fire extinguishers (PASS) were used to extinguish stove fires. Chief Tommy O'Donnell and Kindle, a K-9, displayed and showed how they can assist on a scene. A simulated confined space rescue was set up allowing the cadets to work in teams to make a "rescue."  Ladder 68-2, Trappe Fire Company, was set up for the cadets to get a glimpse into aerial operations.
