Youth Firefighter Camp - Day 4

June 22, 2023

It might have been raining, but that didn't stop our cadets from having an action-packed 4th day of camp.
Firefighters Jeff and Chuck started our day off with lots of high-fives.
Continuing to build on the skills learned so far, the cadets got to put them to use.

The day's skill stations included: Patient packaging, situational awareness, and home emergency meeting places. The cadets learned how to remove rings from fingers utilizing everyday household items.

Limerick Fire Department's Fire Police set up simulated blocked roadways and had the cadets "redirect" traffic. They emphasized why barricades and cones are used to close roads or redirect traffic around an emergency scene. Remember Tuesday's lesson of the day? Turn Around, Don't Drown. Daily time record was 11 seconds.

The Bullex fire extinguisher simulator was set to test their skills with the extinguishers, and instructed what to do if it doesn't work.
Wondering what our final day at camp will bring?

Thank you to Jack and Madi for the tomato pies. Our volunteers were able to grab a quick bite to eat before heading to their jobs for the afternoon.
