At 11:53 am on January 4, the department was dispatched for a vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Township Line Rd and Ridge Pike. Within a minute, the county upgraded the incident to a vehicle rescue. Deputy 51 arrived on the scene and found the crash to be in Upper Providence on Ridge Pike at the entrance to the Court at Upper Providence Shopping Center. Deputy 51 reported that the drivers of both of the involved vehicles were trapped and updated the location of the crash with the county. Rescue 51 responded and crews worked to extricate the driver in one of the vehicles while personnel from Squad 68 extricated the driver of the other vehicle. Engine 68-2 stood by for fire suppression during the rescue operations. Crews then cleaned up debris and applied absorbent to the fluids on the roadway. Fire police closed Ridge Pike for the duration of rescue operations.
