At 9:43 am on July 5, the department was dispatched to a report of a tree on fire on Game Farm Road. Field 51-1, Field 51-2, Tanker 51, Chief 51, and fire police responded. The tree had been struck by lightning a few nights ago and had been smoldering since. Crews attempted to soak the tree, but due to the fire burning through the approximately 80-foot tree, they were unable to reach it from the outside. The property owner was able to assist by cutting down the tree and cutting it into pieces. Crews were able to thoroughly saturate the tree before being made available about an hour later.
