At 9:34 pm on July 7, the department was dispatched to an accident with injuries on Swamp Pike near Houck Road. Rescue 51, Squad 51, Fire Police, Limerick Police and Freedom Valley Medical Rescue responded. Supplemental information indicated a head-on collision. Upon arrival, fire crews checked for injuries, assisted with fluid and debris cleanup, and secured the vehicles. Due to the number of patients, additional mutual aid EMS units were requested. Fire Police temporarily closed Swamp Pike between Kurtz Rd and Houck Rd for the duration of the incident. Once both vehicles were removed by tow trucks, all units were made available.
