| On May 7, the Limerick Fire Department participated in a vehicle rescue demo as part of the 250 Strong: Save and Serve declaration and signing at the Montgomery County Fire Academy. The goal of the Montgomery County Fire Chiefs Association is to recruit 250 new volunteers using the new FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) SAFER grant. Guest speakers included Commissioner Tom DiBello and Tracie Young-Brungard from the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
After the declaration and signing, visiting news stations and visitors had the opportunity to walk around and see the volunteer firefighters from many participating companies around Montgomery County perform live demonstrations on vehicle rescue, a building fire simulation, throwing ground ladders, and a technical rescue.
After the event, the LFD crew headed to Mission BBQ for a delicious and well-deserved dinner!
